At JS Ewers, our support of the local community is demonstrated in the large percentage of our base workforce coming from local former refugees. A recognised barrier for most refugees entering the workforce was starting with very little English, which in turn made understanding their tasks more difficult.
In 2014 JS Ewers launched an industry partnership with Work and Income, combining refugee recruitment with English literacy classes. We are committed to supporting the professional development of our staff to ensure they are improving their communication skills and literacy effectiveness.
From a quiet field in beautiful rural Appleby to one of New Zealand’s largest growers, the story of JS Ewers Limited mixes a passion for top quality product and good old-fashioned family values.
